Laura Williams on the conflict with dietitians

Show Notes

Anti-diet dietitian and maker of the cutest, most rebellious earrings ever? Yup, that’s today’s guest, Laura Williams (she/her/hers). We’re exploring the harms that can be inflicted on fat & plus-sized people and people with eating disorders when dietitians aren’t trained in anti-diet culture and are unaware of their own anti-fat biases. And how she started a flourishing business that’s designed to protest diet culture, all while still living and loving joyfully in the world.

Laura is an anti-diet dietitian from Melbourne, Australia who is passionate about dismantling diet culture and pushing back against weight stigma and discrimination in health care. In her work as a dietitian, Laura specializes in providing weight-neutral care to people recovering from eating disorders using Health At Every Size (HAES) principles.

Laura is the owner and creator of The Perfect Pear Earring Co., a brand of vibrant and quirky statement earrings and accessories. Laura is currently in the process of rebranding her business to Radical Creatures, which will focus on the themes of body liberation, fat acceptance, and pushing back against diet culture.
