Join us for a day at Body Blitz, the women-only spa in Toronto built around the old European ritual of moving through a circuit of therapeutic pools, hot and cold, steam and salt, soaking until your whole body lets go.

Accessibility:

• there is an elevator, otherwise there are about 15 steps between the main entrance and the change room and there are 5 step into the three different pools. All stairs have railings.

• there is an accessible washroom

• the shower stalls are large and fit my 5X body no problem

• the robes fit up to an XL, but they do have large towels that fit up to a 3X

• personally, I don't use the robe or towels in the water spa area preferring to just walk around in my bathing suit

• they provide rubber sandals to wear when waking around as it can get slippery if you walk fast

Picture this: a hawk lifts off, circles wide over an open field, and comes back to land on your glove. Yours.

We're spending three hours on a ten-acre property outside Toronto, learning the old art of falconry from people who've given their lives to it. You'll meet several birds of prey, each with its own personality, tour the mews where they live, hold an owl, and at the end, fly a Harris hawk yourself.

It's the kind of thing most of us file under "someday," or under "not for people like me." So we're doing it together, in a small group of fat folks, with all the time in the world for questions and photos and the simple awe of a wild bird choosing to come back to your hand.

That photo is of me this past winter with an incredible owl. I got this experience as something new to do with my husband for his birthday, and it's one of the coolest things I've done!

The group will be limited to 6 people.

Accessibility:

• there is some walking (about 5 mins) on uneven fields, so you'll want sturdy, close-toed shoes or hikers

• bring your own folding chair if you'd like to be more comfortable. The chairs they have are sturdy, but I was squished in the hips as a 5X. Also, when we go to the location where we fly the birds, it will be nice to bring your chair to sit in when it's not your turn.

• there is a bathroom, but I'm not sure how big it is, as I didn't use it when I was there

Gather round. We're spending an afternoon with the cards, the palms, and the tea leaves, in the very best company.

A skilled, friendly intuitive, Barbara Ford will lead us for tarot and oracle, mediumship, and palm readings, with a little pendulum and tea leaf work if the group's up for it. You can sit for a reading that gives you chills, or just hang back with a cup of something and watch your friends get theirs. There's no wrong way to do this.

It's a giddy, slightly spooky kind of fun, the sort of afternoon where you lean in close, laugh at what the cards turn up, and walk away with a story to tell. Come curious, come skeptical, come however you are. The good time is the whole point.

I did my first reading with Barbara when I moved to Georgetown several years ago. Since then, I get readings a couple of times a year, and she's also training me in Reiki. She's fat herself, and just gets it, which of course, I love.

The group will be limited to 5 people.

Accessibility:

• there's a staircase up to the meeting room that's about 20 steps with a sturdy railing

• there is a washroom on-site in the main store that's small. The coffee shop a 2-minute walk away has a great bathroom.

• the chairs are folding but sturdy (I've done many a workshop on those chairs as a 5X)
