You’re in the right place
Hello lovely! If you've made it this far, something here is speaking to you.
Maybe you’ve checked out Fat Joy and feel like saying hi. Maybe you found this page an hour ago and you're still deciding whether any of it is for you. Either way, you're welcome here exactly as you are.
You don't need the right words or a clear question or a tidy reason. You can tell me what's on your mind, ask me the thing you're worried is too big or too small to bother with, or just wave hello and see where it goes.
I read every message myself, and will be very happy to hear from you. There's no wrong way to start a conversation with me. Pick whatever feels easiest, and let's go from there.

Your questions.

Not at all. Most people who find their way to me are somewhere in the muddy middle, still untangling years of diet culture, still having hard days in front of the mirror.
You don't need to arrive with a healed relationship to your body or the right words for any of it. You just need to be curious about a different way of living in your skin. We figure out the rest together.

Not at all. "Fat" here is a lived experience, not a number or a size cut-off. If you move through the world in a body that gets treated differently because of its size, you belong, whether you call yourself fat, plus-size, mid-fat, superfat, or you're still finding the language that fits. Use whatever word feels true for you. If you're somewhere in between and unsure, email me and we'll talk it through.

I'm so glad you're in this fight, truly.
Some of my spaces, like the podcast and the newsletter, are for everyone, and I'd love for you to dig in there, learn, and take action in your own corner of the world.
My programs, though, are intentionally centered on fat folks and the size-based oppression we live with, so those are held for people who experience that firsthand.
If you're ever unsure where you fit, reach out and I'll help you find the right door.

Creation Lab is a six-month, small, online mastermind for fat folks who have a liberatory idea they want to bring into the world.
Ideas like:
a podcast
a workshop
a writing project
a community space
a something-that-should-exist.
It's for the person who keeps noticing gaps and thinking someone should make this, then quietly suspects that someone might be them.
You bring the spark and the bravery, and a handpicked circle of peers and I help you turn it into something real.
You can read the full details on the Creation Lab page.

It's the coziest, lowest-pressure thing I run, and it's completely free.
After a gentle welcome and a little warm connection, everyone settles in to do whatever feels restful: read, knit, work a puzzle, practice an instrument, collage, you name it.
There's no assigned book and no discussion. We mute ourselves and keep our cameras on for that silent-but-together feeling, then close with a sweet little check-out and usually a poem.
It's leisure time in the company of other fat folks, in a space actually built with our bodies in mind.
My friend Talia and I host it together. Come see what it's like at the Silent Book Club page.

Sure! The Fat Joy Podcast is the easiest, lowest-stakes way to get a feel for me and for this whole world.
Each episode is a real conversation with a fat or plus-size person about how they're finding joy in a fatphobic world.
Press play on whichever title pulls at you, and notice how you feel. If something in you leans in, you'll know there's more here for you.

My coaching looks like having someone in your corner who genuinely gets it, because I'm a fat person who has walked this road myself.
In our sessions, I listen closely, connect the dots you can't always see, and gently challenge and reframe things so you can move toward what you actually want.
Between sessions, you carry that clarity into your real life, practicing and integrating whatever we’ve talked about.
It's warm, it's spacious, and it's built to help you trust yourself more, one conversation at a time.

My online-based programs are priced in USD, while my in-person events are hosted in Canada and will be in CAD.
If the exchange rate is giving you pause or you'd like to sort out a Canadian-dollar option for an online program because you live in Canada, email me and we'll figure it out together.

Welcome, I'm so glad you found your way in.
If you're just getting a feel for things, the Fat Joy Podcast is the place to begin: real conversations with fat and plus-size folks about flourishing in a fatphobic world.
If you'd rather gather with people than listen, come to a Silent Book Club session. It's free and gentle.
If you've got an idea tugging at your sleeve and want to build something, that's Creation Lab.
If you want someone walking beside you one-on-one, coaching is where we go deep together, paying attention to what’s getting in the way and working on creating the life you want.
And if you want a steady dose of all of it, the newsletter is a lovely way to stay close.
Still not sure which door is yours? Email me and I'll help you find it.

I get this, deeply. So many of us live with real financial limits and long histories of being told we're not worth investing in.
Please know there are ways into this community that cost nothing at all: the podcast and the Silent Book Club are both free and full of heart.
For my paid offerings, I do my best to make them accessible, with payment plans and a genuine willingness to talk things through.
If cost is the only thing standing between you and something here, email me before you count yourself out.
And if now simply isn't the right time, that's okay too. I'll be here when it is.
About Sophia
For over a decade, I’ve been making joyful, rebellious spaces for fat folks: the Fat Joy Podcast (a top 2% global podcast), body liberation coaching, writing workshops, and Creation Lab, where people turn their frustration with diet culture into creative acts of liberation.
I came to this work through my own life, and after decades of extreme dieting and an eating disorder, I know in my body what it means to need a soft place to land.
My gift is holding spaces where people can exhale, show up fully, and trust they belong. I wholeheartedly believe in the inherent worthiness of fat people and the birthright of fat joy.
